NBA rumors: Warriors unhappy Kelly Oubre wouldn’t accept bench role

According to former NBA big man Andrew Bogut, Warriors players called out Kelly Oubre for not wanting to accept a bench role with the team.

It’s been another strange year for the Golden State Warriors, as no Klay Thompson has once again resulted with the team not being at the top of the Western Conference standings. With that said, it looks like some more drama is continuing to follow the team?

With Kevin Durant long gone, the newest player to cause some division inside the locker room is Kelly Oubre. Per former Warrior Andrew Bogut, multiple players have grown frustrated with the lefty because of his belief that he’s too good to be a bench player.

Kelly Oubre not wanting to take a bench role has apparently caused some Warriors division

With Oubre set to be a free agent this offseason, several teams are no question going to be interested in signing him. According to Bogut, the Warriors began talks with Oubre and asked him if he’d be willing to accept a bench role with the team in 2021 once the lineup is back to full health.

Bogut’s sources told him that Oubre was taken aback by this question and said there’s no chance he’d do that, as he sees himself as a starter in this league. Bogut went on to say that Warriors players are not happy with this, especially after NBA Finals MVP Andre Iguodala had no problem taking that kind of a role with Golden State.

As things stand, the Warriors are 23-27 on the year and on the outside looking in of the Western Conference playoffs in 10th place. This latest Oubre update is only going to add to the headaches for head coach Steve Kerr and his staff.
