Tyler Herro’s Miami Heat ‘revenge tour’ has been utterly embarrassing

Tyler Herro declared the Miami Heat were on a “revenge tour” following their win over the Portland Trail Blazers last Sunday. It has not gone as planned.

The Miami Heat had a two-game winning streak following their 107-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers this past Sunday. Following their second victory on their west coast road trip, guard Tyler Herro declared that the Heat were on a “revenge tour” their next three road games.

Just like many proclamations by professional athletes, they are bound to come back to haunt them. That is exactly what happened to Herro, as the Heat are 0-3 since his declaration.

Heat: Tyler Herro’s “revenge tour” cancelled following three straight losses.

This has not aged well whatsoever. Sure, the Heat picked up a win after losing trade deadline acquisition Victor Oladipo to a knee injury the game prior, and Herro felt mighty confident. But boy did it ever bite them.

Following the win over the Trail Blazers, the Heat lost 106-86 to the Phoenix Suns this past Thursday, 123-106 to the Denver Nuggets and even 119-111 to the last-place Minnesota Timberwolves. Things have not been going well for the Heat since Herro confidently boasted that things were coming up for Miami. On top of that, Herro’s play became freezing cold since his now-viral quote.

Here are Herro’s stat-lines from those three contests:

  • vs. Suns: 10 points (5-for-11 shooting, including 0-for-3 from 3-point range), 2 rebounds, 2 steals
  • vs. Nuggets: 5 points (2-for-10 shooting, including 1-for-5 from 3-point range), 6 assists, 4 rebounds
  • vs. Timberwolves: 4 points (1-for-7 shooting, including 0-for-4 from 3-point range) 4 assists, 3 rebounds, 1 block, 1 steal

The Heat can officially retire the term “revenge tour” following this debacle. They will look to return to their winning ways in their return to South Beach on Sunday afternoon against the Brooklyn Nets.
